A SeedTree app · free on iOS & Android

Say no.Make it count.

Every brand tracks what you buy. Nobody counts what you put back, or the terms you never read. U Lost Me turns both into a signal companies need to hear, and the money it raises will go to better products and regenerative projects.

What we're trying to do

Companies spend billions finding out why you buy. Nobody asks why you didn't.

That silent no in the aisle, and the "I agree" you tapped without reading, are two of the most powerful moments a shopper has. Right now they vanish. U Lost Me catches them, counts them, and puts them back in front of the companies who need to hear them. We call it reverse market research, and it will pay for building something better.

Two apps in one

One for the shelf.
One for the fine print.

Brands lose you in two places: the product itself, and the terms that come with it. U Lost Me has a tool for each, in the same app.

Where your no goes

From the aisle
back to the earth.

Here's the whole loop, start to finish. Nothing hidden.

  1. 1

    You say no

You scan a product, or decode some terms, and tell us what lost you.

  2. 2

    It adds up

Thousands of answers combine into totals and trends by product, brand and category.

  3. $

    Brands pay to hear it

Soon, companies will be able to buy anonymised reports to learn why they're losing people.

  4. 🌱

    It funds better

That money backs better products and regenerative projects through SeedTree.

And you get something back

Your no earns
Signal Credits.

Every scan and every decode earns credits. Bank them and watch them build. As SeedTree grows, your credits turn into agency in the SeedTree ecosystem.

Why it matters

Feedback tools only hear from people who already bought. The reasons people walk away are the most useful thing a company could know, and almost nobody collects them.

  • Brands get honest data they can't get anywhere else.
  • You get a voice that's actually heard, without filling in a survey.
  • The money goes into better products and projects that regenerate land, water and communities.
Privacy policy · U Lost Me app

Privacy, plainly.

An app that decodes other people's fine print had better have good fine print of its own. Here's ours.

We never sell
your data.

What we will sell, once insight reports launch, is the combined picture of why lots of people passed on a product. We'll never sell, rent or share anything that could point back to you, and we won't sell to advertisers or data brokers. We'll update this page before any report is sold.

Before anything else

We remove you first.

Before your answer goes anywhere, it's tied to a random device key, not to you. No name, no email, no phone number. Our database only ever sees that key, and any report a brand buys will only ever see combined totals.

+ What we collect

  • A random device key the app creates on install, so we can stop spam and let you delete your data
  • The barcodes you scan and the product names they match
  • The reasons you pick, and whether you didn't buy it or bought it and won't again
  • The time of each submission
  • Terms and conditions you choose to decode
  • Basic technical info, like app version and crash reports

✕ What we don't

  • Your name, email or phone number. There's no login.
  • Your location
  • Camera images. Barcodes are read on your phone and never stored or sent.
  • Your contacts, photos or other apps
  • Advertising IDs. No ad networks, no analytics SDKs, no trackers.

Our promises for insight reports

  1. We will only ever sell aggregated, anonymised insights: totals, percentages and trends across many people.
  2. A product or brand only appears in a report once enough people have flagged it that nobody can be singled out.
  3. Reports never include device keys, individual answers or anything that could identify a person.
  4. We won't sell to advertisers, data brokers or anyone who wants to target individuals.
  5. Insight revenue will fund better products and regenerative projects through SeedTree, and we'll report where it goes.

Who else touches it

Open Food Facts
Looks up product names and images from barcodes. Gets the barcode, nothing about you.
Supabase
Hosts our database. Data is encrypted in transit.
Apple App Attest / Google Play Integrity
Checks requests come from a genuine copy of the app, to keep the numbers honest. Verification, not identification.

Your control

You can withdraw consent and delete your data from inside the app at any time. Deleting removes every record tied to your device key. Totals already combined into past reports can't be pulled back out, because by then nothing in them is yours.

Signal Credits show your impact. For now they have no cash value.

Who's responsible

U Lost Me is made by SeedTree Earth, which is responsible for your data. While we move the app listings into our own developer accounts, the App Store and Google Play may show our development partner, Ecodia, as publisher. Same app, same rules.

U Lost Me isn't made for children under 13. Questions, access or deletion requests: moss@seedtree.earth. If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page before the change happens.

Questions

Fair questions.

Is it really free?

Yes. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases. Down the track it'll be paid for by brands buying anonymised insight reports, not by you.

Do I need an account?

No. The app creates a random device key so it can count your answers and let you delete them. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.

Are you selling my data?

No. When insight reports launch, they'll contain combined totals only, like "41% of people who passed on this cited hidden sugars." Nothing that could identify you, and never your individual answers.

What are Signal Credits?

Credits you earn every time you scan a product or decode some terms. For now they show your impact and have no cash value. Bank them: as the SeedTree ecosystem grows, they'll turn into agency within it.

Does it only work on food?

Product lookups start with Open Food Facts, so food and drink work best right now. You can search by name for other products, and we're widening coverage.

Is there a web version?

It's coming. Soon you'll be able to use both tools right here at ulostme.app, no download needed.

Who's behind it?

SeedTree Earth, an Australian regenerative coordination project. U Lost Me is one of the first seeds in a bigger ecosystem of tools for people who want their everyday choices to grow something better.

They lost you.
